Hello, everyone!

Good news from Brazil

As one of the targets and second victory in Mercy For Animals' accountability campaign Compromisso é Coisa Séria, Cepêra just announced that in 2024, they achieved 94.1% in the transition for its cage-free eggs commitment. Cepêra is renowned for its extensive product portfolio, including condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. The company exports products to over 15 countries, including the USA, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Venezuela, Angola, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.

You can read more about it here.

Scale: National

Timeline: The accountability communications started in 2022 through MFA, in 2023  through Fórum Animal and their accountability annual report Egglab, and in 2023 through Animal Equality. Since then, MFA, Fórum Animal, and Animal Equality have consistently followed up with Cepêra to monitor their progress.

As the company had not reported any progress previously, it was chosen as a target for Mercy For Animals' public awareness campaign, Compromisso É Coisa Séria, launched on May 28 of this year.

Due to these efforts, Cepêra not only achieved a 94.1% transition to cage-free eggs but also communicated their progress since 2021, the year they made their public commitment.

Who: Mercy For Animals (Campaign and Relations), Animal Equality (Relations), and Fórum Animal (Relations).

Failed tactics: none

Successful tactics: Sending weekly emails mentioning campaign progress, they requested a meeting with MFA and AE separately, and after that, asked to hold until the end of July to post an update on the commitment.

Scalability: International - More than 15 countries.

Follow-up: We will keep in touch to recognize the importance of their public statement and to continue supporting them to achieve their commitment in 100% in Brazil.

Thank you!
