Hello everyone! Here you can find the July updates from Animal Equality. We hope that you find it helpful and inspiring. We also include our current job openings. Thank you!
Animal Equality - US
Animal Equality is ramping up global pressure on major corporations still using cages. In Chicago, our week-long protests targeted Ahold Delhaize for backtracking on its commitment to end the confinement of pregnant pigs and hens. Meanwhile, our new global campaign against Marriott International, focused on its stalled pledge to end cages for hens, has already sparked protests in the U.S., Mexico, the UK, Brazil, and Spain, including an action on NBC’s Today Show.
Hiring:

Animal Equality - UK
Alongside The Animal Law Foundation and Humane World for Animals UK, we held the Government accountable publicly for its failure to enact meaningful changes for animals during its first year in office. We also drew attention to the Enforcement Problem with comedian Diane Morgan. We released an opinion piece in the Ecologist, showing footage of a worker feeding a seal on a Scottish salmon farm, and highlighting how this simple act of kindness in fact represents our broken relationship with animals and nature. Alongside eight other NGOs, we reinforced calls for species-specific legislation for farmed fish.
Animal Equality - Spain
Animal Equality presented its contributions to the European animal protection legislation review, advocating for eliminating cages, ending male chick killing, and prohibiting force-feeding. We secured a commitment from the catering company DO & CO to end cage use, impacting 250,000 hens, and participated in a pioneering animal ethics course at the University of the Basque Country.

Animal Equality - Brazil
We carried out a protest outside restaurant Lés Présidents in São Paulo against foie gras on the menu, as part of our broader strategy to ban foie gras in Brazil. We also organized a meeting among animal protection organizations and a Deputy of the European Parliament to discuss the impacts of the EU-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement on farmed animals.
Animal Equality - India
We are collaborating with food companies like Double Tree, Grand Hyatt, and Trident to eliminate eggs from caged hens. The Hyatt Centric in Goa is now 100% cage-free, and the Westin in Hyderabad has reached 75%. Meanwhile, our collaboration with producers has positively impacted 4,000 hens by ceasing cage use.
Animal Equality - Mexico
Mexican singer Denise Gutiérrez joined Animal Equality to expose cruelty in the dairy industry through a video that has already garnered 120,000 views in just two weeks. We partnered with a new university to engage their students in our volunteer program. Hidalgo state will strengthen its Animal Protection Law, the first in Mexico to include farmed animals. Love Veg continued its plant-based cooking workshops, and showcased iAnimal at a university in Mexico City.
Animal Equality - Italy
For two days, we utilized equestrian statues in Rome and Milan to protest the slaughter of horses exploited for meat. Through symbolic messages, Animal Equality called for a ban on horse slaughter and advocated for recognizing horses as companion animals.
