About Us
Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI) is dedicated to improving the lives of farmed fishes, which represent a major portion of global fish consumption. While our primary efforts focus on improving fish welfare in India, we have also previously worked in China and the Philippines.
In China, we have collaborated with organizations like the International Cooperation Committee of Animal Welfare (ICCAW) to facilitate knowledge sharing on fish welfare concepts and provide guidance on welfare standards. After a brief hiatus, we are now restarting our work in the region.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a multi-year strategy for FWI’s work in China.
- Lead field-building initiatives by collaborating with research institutions and local partners.
- Cultivate productive relationships with stakeholders and collaborators.
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a leader with:
- Proven experience in project management and strategic planning.
- A strong ability to engage with stakeholders locally and internationally.
- Leadership experience in animal welfare, global development, or related fields.
- Native Mandarin proficiency and fluency in English.
