Hello everyone!

Today ARBA would like to share figures showing progress in cage-free production in Peru, thanks to a study funded by Tiny Fund Fueling Advocates Initiative (FAI) in 2024.

According to this study between 3% and 4% of laying hens today live cage-free in Peru and that is PROGRESS taking into consideration that MIDAGRI does not show the reality due to alleged conflicts of interest with the egg industry.

The result is encouraging because it shows a 100% growth of the cage-free hen population in Peru.

In 2020 we actively start our work for farm animals to eliminate their intensive exploitation.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture (MIDAGRI) in the year 2023, almost 29 million hens were used for egg production in Peru. Almost all of them are raised in conditions that are detrimental to their welfare because they cannot develop their natural behaviors and are crowded in cages. Only 2% of them are listed as cage-free.

To date, MIDAGRI does not have an official study on the number of hens that have been freed from their cages in the last 4 years thanks to our campaigns, as well as the large number of producers who are already working in cage-free production.

Have a great day!
