#MoreThanANumber: Giving visibility to lab animals this April 24

April 24th, 2025 marked World Day for Laboratory Animals—a day to remember the millions of animals used in scientific research, often overlooked in the broader animal advocacy movement, as they are not considered Farmed Animals.

At Te Protejo, we launched #MoreThanANumber in Chile and Mexico, a campaign to bring visibility and compassion to the lives of rats and mice—the most commonly used animals in research. 

This year, in collaboration with We Animals Media with the amazing lens of Jo-Anne McArthur, we photographed the hidden world of Mexican research facilities, capturing powerful images that show the emotional lives of rats and mice.

The response has been overwhelming:

Over 30,000 campaign downloads
More than 2 million people reached online
Over 2 million people reached through 6 billboards in subway stations
