Summary:
Animal Partisan is currently seeking a part-time, remote, contractor to serve as a Communications & Fund Development Associate supporting our legal advocacy work. Animal Partisan is a legal advocacy organization dedicated to ending the suffering of animals in slaughterhouses, farms, and laboratories by challenging unlawful conduct in all its forms. Animal Partisan was founded in late 2022 and operates with limited staff and the substantial contributions of dozens of pro bono attorneys and law students. Given the organization’s small footprint, this role is expected to offer meaningful contributions despite the part-time nature of the position. This role will report to and support Animal Partisan’s Founder/Legal Counsel.
The Communications & Fund Development Associate will perform the following functions:
Communications (approximately 50-70%)
- Create written and visual content for social media, such as Instagram posts, reels, and stories (in collaboration with graphic design resources).
- Implement and manage social media metrics.
- Manage and write regular blog posts for Animal Partisan’s website and support maintenance of other website content.
- Draft and oversee the submission process of press releases, opinion-editorials, and letters to the editor.
- Manage Google Ads and search engine optimization (SEO) processes.
- Create and manage processes to generate organization’s annual report.
Fund Development (approximately 30-40%)
- Maintain and monitor calendar of key dates and timelines related to grants and foundation requests.
- Identify funding opportunities, including grants, foundations, and others.
- Prepare submissions for grants and foundation requests.
- Manage donor receipts and letters of acknowledgment processes.
- Implement and manage donor database.
- Develop and implement a strategy to increase individual donations.
- Support operational reporting requirements related to fund development activities.
- Implement and manage a legacy giving program.
Miscellaneous (approximately 10-20%)
- As Animal Partisan is a small organization, our preference is for a contractor who possesses a flexible skillset and the initiative to assist with a wide array of other work that may arise. This work may include conducting online research, reviewing documents, supporting team members with projects, and more.
Qualifications:
- Dedicated to the animal rights movement
- Demonstrated interest in communications and/or fund development (includes degrees, past roles, volunteer work, etc.)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Capable of writing professionally to a wide range of audiences
- Adept at building and managing relationships with diverse people and organizations
- Highly organized, including time management, task management, and documentation
- Inquisitive and intellectually curious
- Dependable and consistent
- Possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office products and various social media platforms
- Willing to get your hands dirty and take on a variety of tasks for a small organization
- Preferable backgrounds and experiences include but are not limited to: Communications, Fund Development, Grant writing, Graphic Design, Project Management/Coordination, Process Management
Hours:
This role is expected to work 20 hours/week. Working hours are flexible so long as some portions are worked at a consistent day/time to facilitate collaboration and communication.
Compensation/Benefits:
This role is entirely remote within the United States. This is a contract role and compensation is $30/hour without benefits.
