The World Federation for Animals

The World Federation for Animals is a global federation of 70+ NGOs working towards the recognition of animal welfare as essential for sustainable development. Our efforts focus on integrating animal welfare into international health, food, and environmental regimes and trade and development finance rules. The role

This role is a unique career opportunity to make a substantial difference on a global scale by supporting the growth of the animal protection movement. 

Under the supervision of the Global Communications and Policy Advocacy Manager, the Resource Mobilisation Officer will help WFA grow its support from funders and identify opportunities for donations for global animal welfare policy advocacy. The Resource Mobilisation Officer will develop and implement a resource mobilisation plan, building WFA’s income-generating function from the ground up. 

Main areas of responsibility

The main responsibility is to develop and implement WFA’s resource mobilisation plan, including through:

• Building new relationships with donors
  • Identify funding opportunities to secure additional resources for WFA programs.
  • Track donor intelligence and provide regular updates on donor profiles. 
  • Co-draft funding proposals and concept notes to secure new or increased support from donors, including foundations and trusts. 
  • Support the creation of quality marketing products to attract and secure increased donor resources.
  • Contribute to developing messages and arguments to strengthen the investment case for WFA.
  • Collaborate with the Membership Officer to develop requests for additional resourcing from WFA members.

• Ensuring WFA’s compliance with commitments made with donors
  • Facilitate and monitor the submission of high-quality and timely reports to donors.
  • Provide timely attention and responses to WFA donors.
• Developing effective use of Salesforce for donor management
• Undertaking related duties as needed

Key relationships

• Reports to the Global Policy & Communications Manager.
• Works closely with
  • Chief Development Officer and Membership Officer – in developing and implementing overall resource mobilisation strategy 
  • Communications Officer – in elevating WFA’s profile and attractiveness for donors.
  • Finance Officer – in the development of proposals and financial reporting to donors.
  • CEO and Deputy CEO – in reporting to the Board and ensuring proposals align with WFA strategy
  • Policy team – identifying and describing proposals and gathering data for reporting.
  • WFA Board members and other members – in identifying prospects, making connections, exploring collective approaches, and fostering a member fundraising staff network.
• External relationships include donors and other key supporters of WFA.

Required Skills & Experience

You must have the right to work in your location as WFA cannot support any visa application process. 

Experience

• Significant proven experience of success in resource mobilisation or  partnership building is required;
• Experience with a major donor charity in its income generation work is an advantage.
• Experience in managing data to support efficient processes or project reporting.
• Experience in marketing.

Language

• Fluency in English is required
